None of my friends are like this, however. They would hold me back and keep me from jumping off the bridge. Some of them have done things like that for me a few times; kept me from jumping off the bridge. Thank you, dear friends.
Shadowthorne, you have lots of us online friends. This is the first time I have so many friends, and I consciously made effort to reach out. Putting myself out there for possible rejection was uncomfortable at first. But worth it.
LOVE teh Kittehs! I found out my true peeps as well.... I do believe you never missed a chance to comment... on some of my "darker" days. It was wonderful to know that someone cared! THANKS for that! And You can email me anytime you wish!
If it weren't for my family, faith and my friends -the tangible ones as well as many out in cyberspace -I don't want to even think about where I might be today! So good to know we all have some sort of network to help give a softer landing for us when we have those days of falling or feeling that way!
I have had a few friends like that in my life but we do not live anywhere near each other anymore. I have been a friend like that to a few special people.
I used to think it would be fine to live in a cave and never have to interact with others. But in actuality, I like being around people lots of the time. The different personalities are charming.
Going to see a couple friends tonight. I think they would stop me from doing something really stupid if they were there. There might be side bets going if I was going to be stopped or not. I trust their good will towards me.
I have a small group of close friends, and I'm sure they would do everything in their power to keep me from jumping off a bridge. Just like the saying says, "Friends are the family you choose for yourself."
My family, blog and email friends are the only ones I've tried to cultivate. Some are wonderful and some are fair weather. I weed some out occasionally and keep cultivating the ones that understand friendship isn't all about ones self.
Good for you for deciding which ones to cultivate. You are a strong woman. I save my Saturdays for emailing and staying in touch. Someone might email me during the week and if I know my reply will be long and in depth I save it till Saturday. I really enjoy staying close to friends more than ever in my life.
Good morning CiCi. Friend are like a bra or something they say.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, good support. Yes indeed.
DeleteI found out who my fair weather friends were a while back. They are not friends now.
ReplyDeleteSounds fair. Get it, fair? Oh well, I know you will laugh at my lame jokes because you are my friend.
DeleteI don't have much friends to start with anyway.... A bit lonely, but not really sad.
ReplyDeleteGood evening!

Anne, you are a sweetie. And I remember your darker days and walked through them beside you. You have shown yourself to be a friend to me as well.
DeleteWhat cute kitties! I am so glad you have good friends who care about whether or not you are happy. Can I be one, huh? Huh? Oh right: I already AM! :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan, absolutely you are. Many thanks for your love and support.
DeleteWithout friends our life would lack the ballast to keep us balanced.....I'm glad you have some good ones.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, great analogy, my friend. I always think of you as strong and wise.
DeleteYou're very blessed to have friends like that!
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, I do know that good friends are a blessing. I am super abundantly blessed.

ReplyDeleteJeni, nice way of putting it. We all deserve a softer landing. Friends say "lean on me" so maybe they don't mind when we "land" on them too.

ReplyDeleteGood to know about your close friends, Bill. You seem like an easy going guy and I bet you have lots of great friends.

ReplyDeleteExactly. Family you choose. We don't get to choose the biological family but we sure as heck can choose friends.

Deletewe def need to treat those friends with care because they are few and far between...they are a treasure in our lives...
DeleteI like that you describe friends as treasures. Yes they are and should be valued as such.
DeleteTrue friends will always make sure you stick around. x
