Indeed - a lot of that going on over here - there was a protest by 50,000 people in London against the government's cuts to everything. No media coverage at all!
That's assuming people actually watch the news anymore. I doubt the average American knows much about the world going around them. A common question like "who's the current Vice President" is something people have been stumbling on for decades.
