Purses are so fun. These are some of my purses on the top shelf. I can see a round spot on the wall where the small mirror is reflecting.
This photo is in my new bedroom. For several months I had been investigating the possibility of being accepted to live in an apartment in town. There are sixteen units, all one level, eight units in each building. The apartments are HUD subsidized and there is one utility bill: Electricity.
It was a given that some day I would want to move to these apartments when taking care of the house became too much for me, so when there was an opening I didn't hesitate, I rented the apartment. My apartment in an end unit. I walk out my door, then out the building door, then one block to the senior center.
It has been a month since I moved in. My rent is half what I paid at the house and since I don't pay all the utilities I did there, I am saving money.
Friends moved me. They stepped in and said they had a trailer and when would I want them there.
Each resident can garden the area in front of the windows, some grow veggies, some grow flowers, some use plastic flowers. I planted a yellow tea rose and a couple other plants. The geranium I had last year and took inside through winter has been planted for the summer and will come inside again when it gets too cold. So I have a flower bed without the maintenance of the yard. And NO snow shoveling.
The mailboxes are inside each building so I won't have to slip and slide down the street to the mail box in winter.
Small apartment for one person, small price for rent, small responsibility. Big JOY for Lola and me.

Enjoy the new place, Cici! Sounds like just the ticket.
Sounds perfect, especially the lack of snow shovelling!
Purses - this tends to be something that guys do not understand. We tend to have 1 wallet. End of story. Ah well, on the other hand my wife does not really understand why I need so many guitars! :-)
What a great subject. I love purses too and I couldn't make the move you just made without selling those three laundry baskets filled with my purses.
What more can a person want than to have a bunch of friends willing to help you move? Enjoy the new digs.
Wow, this is big news and it sounds like a good move. Taking care of a house by yourself is a great deal of work. I hope you (and your purses) will be very happy and comfortable in your new home.
MUCH better to have a small place that costs half as much and is perfectly located. I don't use purses, but instead carry a small backpack that I called my "purse."
That sounds so delightful!
Looks like a home sweet home! I'm a minimalist. Smaller/lesser is better, especially when it comes to maintenance. EnJOY!
Purses are fun. I don't know how men do without.
Sounds like the perfect set up for you then!! I hope you'll be very happy in your new home. :)
That sounds just great! Congratulations on your new apartment and all the conveniences you will now enjoy.
It sounds perfect. I am so glad you moved there.
Just saving that much money is a wonderful monthly experience. Having the freedom to devote your days to living, instead of tending a home, is worth it's weight in sanity.
I think you solved a myriad of problems in one move! Good that the only bill that comes with the place is electricity because dealing with heating oil and the ever changing, ever-rising costs there are killers, for sure, of just about anyone's budget! Enjoy!
Your new apartment seems to be a good fit for you. And you seem very happy there. Good for you!
sounds like you got a good deal on this...and the not having the responsibility frees up time as well for you to pursue other things...
It sounds ideal for you. I'm happy for you, my friend. :)
