There is probably a sign like this with a cat, I haven't seen it yet, so the dog will do just as well.
This does not imply that pets are more important than people; I am not that category of animal lover. Pets are an addition to the family. My cat, Lola, has kept me company throughout the length of time of my cold/flu/gosh darn can't beat it yet bug. When I wake up coughing she sits right next to me. When I let her food dish go empty, she sits and watches me and when I look at her she meows and lets me know I need to get some food for her. She is so quiet and patient. Two things I admire in everyone, but especially in a roommate.

I detest visitors who treat pets as a nuisance. We expect them to be stroked and talked to so they know the visitor is OK. Failure to do so can cause Custard to hate you for ever... (This is absolutely true!)
Pets really do become one of the family, I agree.
I'm sorry you've been ill. I have too, and I'm still not 100% right yet. I hope you feel well very soon!
It sounds like your Lola has been a really wonderful companion for you. Our dog Dodger provides that kind of quiet comfort around here.
I hope you feel much better soon.
I would love to meet Lola in real life (and you too of course!).
I never had furry pets growing up because of my brother's allergies. Now, I can't imagine going without.
pets are def family...have been worried about my kitten since his sister died two days before christmas....it was a sad break in that regard...but he is perking up a bit...
Here's hoping you are well again soon. Yes you cat is a perfect companion.
We love ours too. She sleeps on Buddy's bed if it gets too cold. He loves that.
First of all, I hope you get well soon!
Second, if you send me a photo of Lola, I can make you one of those signs for your door! (which I totally agree with)
So many people are suffering right now with a bug. I see on the news that most states are experiencing severe flu outbreaks. It hasn't reached Oregon yet but I just came back from getting my flu shot.
About cats: our son is 32 and has gone through some rough times. I don't know what he would have done without Charlie, his feline companion of seven years.
I love animals, it's always nice to see a dog or cat when visiting a house.
I am so sorry to hear you are still fighting that bug. But the sign is a good one, and pets are indispensable to many who live alone. My sister's dog is her constant companion.. just as Lola is for you. :-)
Hope you are feeling well soon.
Here's a funny cat video clip to cheer you up.

Pets are the best at expressing unconditional love and forgiving us our failures.
We no longer have any cats. I'm always happy to go to someone's house who has a cat for me to pet. Unfortunately, as you know, cats don't always like guests and often hide from me.
So true about our wonderful furry and feathered friends. They are indeed family. When my friend and I had very young kids, she had a guest over who didn't have kids but did have a couple of large dogs. When my friend's toddler son struggled to climb up on the sofa the guest turned to my friend to ask "Is he allowed up on the couch?"
