Home Inspection Results

It is always better to know something and take care of it than pretend it isn't there. The home inspection results were very good. The recommendations I am proceeding with solutions to are rain gutters and a couple ground-fault electrical outlets.

The termite inspection results require treatment in the older part of the detached garage as well as treatment in wall off kitchen. They will put a few holes in wall behind stove and refrigerator, add the killer virus  yucky stuff, and the termites will be gone soon. They will be removing baseboard and part of doorway so I will have carpenter replace the doorway and baseboard which I was going to have done anyway, so with a ten year guarantee, this place will be in good shape for lots of years. Let's hope I last many years past that guarantee time frame, though. This really is fun upgrading this over hundred year old place into my little home. I thought the termite results might dim my enthusiasm for the place, but it doesn't. There is good juju here.

Woohoo!

In the house where I lived between the ages of 13 and 20, our kitchen looked very much like this. The same style cupboards and the identical sunny yellow paint on them. So it feels like home to me, too. ;)

You belong there, CiCi, so of course it's got good juju. I'm so glad you're having fun. :-)

Glad to hear that everything is manageable and nothing dampens your enthusiasm for your little home.

Love the sunshine yellow kitchen. Must be impossible to be unhappy there.

Glad nothing serious was found during the inspection. Those things can be nightmares.

I'm glad nothing too terrible was found

That doesn't sound too bad at all! Especially for a hundred year old house. And you're kitchen is just adorable! I imagine you'll be happy there for a long time!

They call me mellow yellow..... said Donovan. Perhaps he was singing about your kitchen.

It would be hard to be unhappy in such a happy kitchen, CiCi!

Glad the inspection is complete and only a few things need addressed.

I know the house will be perfect when you finish with it.

are the owners taking care of the things that need fixing up or are you?

i am glad you love the place enough to see it through to work...

Ms A, thanks for the encouragement and caring comment.

Hilary, at first the yellow was a surprise, but it has become a happy kitchen.

DJan, this place suits me to a T!

Terri, that is a good way to say it. Yes, it is impossible to be unhappy here.

Stephen, there are jobs to be done to bring this place up to where I want it but they are worth it.

Adam, that is the way I see it too.

ShadowRun, yes the kitchen is old fashioned and fun.

Shammickite, having the pass through to the living room opens up the whole place. The kitchen is easy to work in and I have stools under the counter in the kitchen area.

Joanna, you remember when I first moved here, and I like it as much as I did five years ago.

Brian, whether the current owners take care of the things or my daughter does or I do, they need to be done and I want them done and they will be worth it.

Great kitchen. I would want a dishwasher, but being that old, I'm sure your plumbing wouldn't allow it. I'm happy to see that no one came in and remodeled it to the inth-degree. Too many of these vintage places have been lost.
