"Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one. "

Consolation

"And because I love this life
I know I shall love death as well.
The child cries out when
From the right breast the mother
Takes it away, in the very next moment
To find in the left one
Its consolation."

----Rabindranath Tagore,
from Gitanjali (Bengali collection of English poems)

That is so true, both metaphorically and literally!

Years ago I read many Tagore poems, this one is new to me. It's beautiful. I hope you are doing well; I noticed it was posted at 1:00am. I was fast asleep dreaming at that time.

....but nobody would embrace death that well. Consolation. There is always something to learn from everything we endure.

Love this too!
It's true — hard times... then something more!
Seems to be the nature of the beast -
Here in the metaphorical winter ... shoveling that snow!

Lovely poem. It reminds me that even "bad" things all happen for good, eventually.

And thanks for sharing your photo! Cheers!

Ms.A, consolation is so, so, consoling. We all like being consoled.

Rock Chef, yes, every way imaginable actually.

DJan, I seek peaceful and thought provoking words every place I can.

Shadowthorne, thank you for the thoughtful comment.

Anne, yes, hard times can be great lessons that help make us better people.

Ina, yes, a great picture, isn't it?

Abby, I like that you added "eventually" to your comment.

terri, yes, indeed. I am seeking words of hope and strength.

Brian, there is something so loving in this poem, to me at least.

Margie, I am doing better and reading words of comfort and strength every day.

This is beautiful and I agree that if you love something you should let it go. Even if that something is your life.
