My Slippers Do The Old Folks Shuffle

It must be something from my childhood, but when I hear people shuffling along with feet slightly dragging, it sounds like old people to me. I am not in any way disparaging old people. I am one of them.

Someone gave me these slippers. I have worn them for a few years now. One day I accidentally spilled a drop of bleach on one slipper. So, instead of looking at the drop and letting it bother me, I took a Q-tip dipped in bleach and made a design in the slippers. My way of turning lemons into lemonade. Or in this case, damaged slippers into funky art.

When I walk around the house with my slippers on though, I don't walk my usual way. I shuffle. That is the only way to keep the slippers from slipping! Thus, the Old Folks Shuffle.

Hahaha, I know what you mean! Some slippers are made for shuffling. Hubby shuffles in his, too. (and trips quite often)

That's funny - and true!

Your slippers are indeed a work of art. And I too am a shuffler when wearing my slippers. I had to smile because I know I've wondered if I need a new pair, but then I realize that I have always shuffled around like that when wearing any slippers. :-)

I love the way you fixed up your slippers with the bleach. I would never have thought to do something so creative!

Great idea with the bleach! Now I'm wondering which one was the original "accident".

Your slippers look comfy - meant for shuffling.

Ms.A, this style with no back makes it impossible to walk normally. Ha.

oceangirl, that's what I think too, sounds like my mom.

Anne, you probably work around people who walk in their slippers like these.

DJan, I wear socks with my slippers and it helps keep my feet warm as well as keep the slippers on my feet.

terri, it is a natural thing for me to do, change something to make it last longer.

Abby, ha, the 3dots in a triangle started with a small dot accidentally spilled on it.

Sometimes, I think I "shuffle along" regardless of what I have on my feet! These days, my slippers are actually a pair of Mandy's that I commandeered but which are just a tad loose on my feet so I definitely do shuffle along through the house with these babies on! I think maybe next week, I may treat myself to a nice pair of slippers from Penney's provided they still have the kind I got older daughter for Christmas on sale -and who knows, maybe even at a better price. I do need a pair that don't slip off my feet quite as easily as these do when I walk! Happy New Year too -while I'm here and the memory is working a bit!

:) That's funky art indeed.
My boots are a bit loose, so I dragged them a little when walking. They made such a distinct sound that people would know I am arriving right away.

A clever fix for the bleach mark!

I have new slippers this year, but they fit really well - no shuffling for me!

Slippers make me happy, and the more worn out and shuffle-y they are, the better! Love your bleach art. :)

You're a hoot, CiCi. What a great idea. I will not let an errant drop of bleach bother me from here on in. Thanks for that.

Very nice idea with the bleach. I had a lady who did the shuffle all day, and told everyone she passed she loved them, shuffling off down a hall with a smile.

I know exactly what you mean...mine shuffle, too! The hardest part is going up and down the stairs with them on! Thanks for the smile and congratulations on your POTW mention!
