Participating More

The director of the senior center encouraged me to attend the free yoga classes at the center. Man oh man. I haven't felt relaxed like that in a long time. I am a regular now. Early mornings each Wednesday. Perfect time. I did some relaxation exercises at home in the evening too and plan on making that part of my evenings. Staying flexible and breathing well is just what I have needed.

Oh good for you. Yoga and I don't get along well. ;) I'm glad it works for you. :)

You must have found a good leader for yoga. The only time I tried it, the instructor started by wanting everyone to rub and knead their faces with their dirty hands that had been moving around mats, and touching the floor. That one lost me. I don't touch my face without sanitizing my hands first. The experience did nothing to relax me. I didn't participate in the face rubbing thing, and sat looking at her until she moved on to another action.

Yoga is great, though it had left me feeling down after a session. It is the closing of eyes and meditate that takes me places I don't want to go.

I have been a yoga fan in the past but not at the moment. The one really popular yoga class at our Y is at the same time as another class I attend, so I've skipped it. For seven years I went to Bikram hot yoga but tried it again recently and realized I've moved on. It's great when you find a good instructor.

Hi Hilary, years ago I was into yoga, when I was a young mother.

R.J., that is too bad you had an unpleasant experience. I wish you could have felt the relaxed state that I found at this yoga class.

oceangirl, for me, when I am doing yoga, I am tuned in to my body and mind. So I stay in the present and don't think about the problems. I make it my time for me, for healing and serenity.

DJan, yes, the instructor makes a big difference. Many years ago I liked Hatha yoga. I have a few DVDs at home so I dragged them out and use them now too.

Wow, that's great!

Years ago, I took a yoga class and I had a really great instructor. Like you, I try to get in some regular practice on my own - so relaxing!

Anne, me too. The breathing is what they focus on and the gradual movement.

Debby, it is comforting to be in a community that accepts me into the fold.

Abby, the yoga instructor is so sweet and gentle. Just listening to her is relaxing.

Hi CiCi
I love yoga!
Just been doing it a short while but find it so very relaxing!

I wish you joy, always.
Nice to be here!

Rock Chef, yes, breathing is essential. Deep breathing is an acquired technique and one that I am working on.

Margie, glad you like yoga too. So glad you found my new blog.

Yoga is great. The breathing essential to attaining inner peace and well being. So are candlelit bubble baths to Native American flute music! There are so many healthy, productive ways to nurture oneself. The spirit will always seek balance. The key is to look inward, not outward to find that spirit, and then find teachers, like your yoga instructor, to give you guidance. I am so proud of you!

Hold onto that peace thru the holidays. Everything will work out just fine if you do so. I promise. Lots of love and a big hug from me to you...

Boy! Wish I could move some of my joints and do some exercises! Some cause immediate lock-ups if I try to move in some ways and that's not a pleasant nor relaxing feeling! Good job for you though.
